Canada's housing starts surge 30% in April.

Canada's housing starts in April rose by 30% compared to the previous month, far exceeding expectations. Data released by Canadian mortgage and housing corporation on Thursday showed that the seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts increased from a revised 214,205 units in March to 278,606 units. Economists had previously expected housing starts to rise to 227,500 units.
