Ministry of Commerce spokesperson, He Yongqian, stated: From May 10th to 11th, Chinese lead negotiator and Vice Premier of the State Council, He Lifeng, met with his American counterparts, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, in Geneva, Switzerland for high-level China-US economic and trade talks. The two sides engaged in candid, in-depth, and constructive communication on implementing the important consensus reached during the January 17th phone call between the leaders of China and the US. They reached a series of important agreements and made substantive progress during the talks, culminating in the issuance of the "China-US Geneva Economic and Trade Talks Joint Statement". Moving forward, China and the US will maintain communication on their respective concerns in the economic and trade domains based on the consensus reached during the Geneva talks.
