The Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has passed a bill to facilitate the registration of foreign companies moving to Hong Kong.
The Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passed the "Companies Ordinance (Amendment) Bill 2024" on its third reading on the 14th, making it easier for companies established overseas to re-register in Hong Kong. According to the amended ordinance, under the company re-registration mechanism, non-Hong Kong incorporated companies can apply to re-register in Hong Kong as long as they meet requirements such as company background, integrity, members, creditor protection, and solvency, and can retain their legal corporate status and ensure business continuity. During the process, the company's assets, rights, obligations, legal liabilities, as well as related contracts and legal procedures, are not affected.
