The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, and her delegation met with the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority today to gain a deeper understanding of the operation of the Kuwait Free Trade Zone. Lam stated that Kuwait was Hong Kong's sixth largest trading partner in the Middle East region last year, and Kuwait was the first Gulf Arab country to sign an agreement with Hong Kong to promote and protect investment, reflecting both sides' common commitment to creating a favorable investment environment. As an international financial center, Hong Kong has rapidly developed in the field of green finance, with a total of $43 billion in green and sustainable bonds arranged by Hong Kong last year, the largest in Asia, providing strong support for Kuwait's development of green energy and other emerging industries. At the same time, the prospects for cooperation between the two sides in the financial services sector such as securities markets, asset and wealth management are also very promising.
