On May 14, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. When asked about the fact that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities did not receive an invitation to the 78th World Health Assembly, the head of Taiwan's foreign exchange department stated that they would still participate in related WHA activities. How do you comment on this? Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said, "The DPP authorities stubbornly adhere to their pro-independence stance, refusing to recognize the '1992 Consensus' that embodies the One China principle, leading to the political foundation for Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly being eroded. This situation is entirely created by the DPP authorities, and they are well aware of it." The compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the Chinese nation and are one family. We have always been concerned about the health and well-being of our Taiwanese compatriots and have made appropriate arrangements for Taiwan's participation in global health affairs. The DPP authorities continuously manipulate the issue of Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly, purely driven by their separatist nature and political interests, attempting to challenge the fundamental framework of the international community's adherence to the One China principle. Their deceitful and provocative actions will certainly be met with strong opposition from compatriots on both sides of the Strait and the international community, destined to end in failure.
