On May 14, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: The US House of Representatives recently passed the "Taiwan Assurance Act" and another bill related to Taiwan, which requires the US State Department to regularly review and lift restrictions on exchanges with Taiwan, and claimed that UN Resolution 2758 "does not involve Taiwan's sovereignty." The DPP authorities expressed gratitude for this. What is your comment on this? The spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, said that there is only one China in the world. Taiwan, apart from being part of China, does not have any other international legal status. The UN Resolution 2758 passed by the 26th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 1971, under the premise of recognizing Taiwan as part of China, restored the representation and seating of all of China, including Taiwan, to the government of the People's Republic of China. The historical facts are clear, and the legal basis is clear. We demand that the US adhere to the one China principle and the provisions of the Three Sino-US Joint Communiqus, stop producing erroneous laws related to Taiwan, and stop sending any signals that condone or support the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. Any attempt to play the "Taiwan card" or to use Taiwan to contain China is doomed to fail.
