The Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission and the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission recently issued a joint notice on the "2025 Beijing-Tianjin Transportation Accessibility Enhancement Work Plan." The plan includes improving the railway network layout, strengthening urban hub functions, accelerating the construction of rail transit networks, improving road network connectivity, enhancing road passenger services, optimizing transportation interconnections, and promoting smart and green travel in seven major aspects and 28 enhancement tasks. In terms of improving the railway network layout, by 2025, there will be a continuous increase in the number of trains and train frequencies for the Beijing-Tianjin intercity high-speed trains to alleviate peak capacity shortages. The fast entrance channel at Beijing South Station will be renovated, and the number of trains stopping at Wuqing Station on the Beijing-Tianjin intercity line will be increased with additional quotas to relieve passenger flow pressure and reduce commuting time. According to the plan, the Beijing Urban Sub-Center Station will be completed this year, providing conditions for increasing the number of trains to Beijing on the Beijing-Tangshan intercity line and improving line capacity. The two cities will also work with China Railway Beijing Group to increase the number of Beijing-Tianjin intercity trains running during peak hours, alleviate passenger flow pressure, and meet the commuting needs of the large passenger flow between Beijing and Tianjin. At the same time, efforts will be accelerated to construct the Tianjin-Weihai high-speed railway and the Beichen to Binhai New Area section of the Beijing-Tianjin intercity line to enhance the transportation service capacity between Beijing and Tianjin.
