On May 14, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: Recently, Lai Ching-te attended a commemoration event for Hatta Yoichi in Tainan and said that the relationship between Taiwan and Japan is not just like friends, but like family. Domestic public opinion criticized him for selectively forgetting the painful past of the Japanese colonial period slaughtering Taiwanese people. What is your comment on this? Chen Binhua, the spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that this year marks the 130th anniversary of Japan's occupation of Taiwan, as well as the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people defeating the Japanese invaders and recovering Taiwan. 80 years ago, all Chinese people, including compatriots in Taiwan, fought bravely, sacrificed greatly, and defeated the evil Japanese militarism, defending national sovereignty and dignity with blood and lives, and composing a glorious chapter of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan. It is well known that during the half century of Japanese occupation of Taiwan, the crimes committed by Japan were countless, bringing great disasters to the Taiwanese compatriots. The cruel suppression of the Anti-Japanese struggle by the Japanese colonial regime in Taiwan caused tens of thousands of Taiwanese compatriots to sacrifice blood and lives; the forced implementation of the "Emperor's assimilation movement" attempted to erase the national identity of the Taiwanese people; and the policy of "agricultural Taiwan, industrial Japan" plundered Taiwanese resources. Lai Qingde disregards historical facts, never mentioning the hardships suffered by Taiwanese compatriots, instead openly promoting so-called "Taiwan-Japan relations", embellishing and glorifying Japanese colonial rule, betraying the nation, and being disgraceful. No matter how he distorts and fabricates history, he cannot change the fact that Taiwan is a part of China, nor can he change the inevitable trend of national reunification. It is hoped that the vast majority of Taiwanese compatriots will stand on the correct side of history, remember the heroic Anti-Japanese deeds of Taiwanese martyrs, deeply understand the significant significance of the recovery of Taiwan, recognize the serious harm of the Lai Ching-te administration's promotion of "Taiwan independence" and be proud and proud to be dignified Chinese people, and together with compatriots on the mainland promote the process of national rejuvenation and reunification.
