Republican lawmakers publicly criticize US tariff policy as chaotic.
On May 12th local time, Republican Senator Rand Paul of the United States told the media that any measures that can lower tariffs are worthy of praise, but the US government's tariff policy can be described as chaotic. Rand Paul pointed out that international trade benefits both business development and consumers, but the US government forcibly imposes huge tariffs, and companies have to rely on lobbying to seek exemptions. This is not a good strategy for government operation, and the business environment in the United States should not be so bad. Rand Paul had previously pointed out that the tariff policy is causing Americans to pay a price. On April 30th local time, the US Senate passed a motion by a narrow margin to temporarily postpone a vote on a resolution involving blocking President Trump from imposing tariffs on multiple countries worldwide. At that time, Rand Paul and two other Republican senators "defected", but still could not prevent Trump's risky tariff policy from passing.
