On May 12, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao presided over a roundtable meeting with foreign trade enterprises. Representatives from 12 foreign trade enterprises, 6 import and export chambers of commerce, and experts from the China Institute of International Economics attended the meeting to discuss topics such as the current foreign trade situation and support for the development of foreign trade enterprises. Li Yonghua, Deputy Chief Negotiator of the Ministry of Commerce for international trade, attended the meeting. Wang Wentao stated that the Party Central Committee attaches great importance to foreign trade work. Since the beginning of this year, external impact has increased, and the foreign trade situation is very complex and severe. However, China's foreign trade operation is generally stable, showing strong resilience. Faced with the US unjustifiably imposing high tariffs on Chinese products, China resolutely took countermeasures, safeguarding its own interests and international fairness and justice, earning international respect. Recently, important consensus was reached in the high-level economic and trade talks between China and the US, making substantive progress and laying the foundation for further bridging differences and deepening cooperation. Next, the Ministry of Commerce will conscientiously implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee, coordinate domestic economic work and international economic and trade struggles, focus on the "three important" positions of commerce work, work together with relevant departments, make every effort to help foreign trade enterprises alleviate difficulties, provide more support, help foreign trade enterprises expand their market, and promote stable development of foreign trade.
