Excavator sales in April increased by 17.6% year-on-year, with export growth hitting a new high in nearly two years.

The construction machinery industry continues to pick up, with excavator sales in April increasing by 17.6% year-on-year. According to statistics from the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, in April 2025, major excavator manufacturers sold a total of 22,142 excavators, a 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these, domestic sales were 12,547 units, a 16.4% increase year-on-year; and exports were 9,595 units, a 19.3% increase year-on-year. Sales of electric excavators were 25 units. In the first four months of 2025, major excavator manufacturers sold a total of 83,514 excavators, a 21.4% increase compared to the same period last year; with 49,109 units sold domestically, a 31.9% increase year-on-year; and 34,405 units exported, a 9.02% increase year-on-year. In April, the growth rate of domestic excavator sales slowed down, narrowing by 12.1 percentage points compared to the previous month; while export volumes increased significantly, reaching a new high since May 2023, expanding by 16.43 percentage points compared to the previous month.
