After US President Trump announced he would sign an executive order to lower prescription drug and medicine prices, stocks of European pharmaceutical companies fell in early trading on Monday. Shares of companies listed in Frankfurt such as Novo Nordisk, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, and Roche Holdings dropped by 1% to 5%, performing worse than the overall market. Previously, Asian pharmaceutical stocks also experienced declines, with the pharmaceutical sector in Japan falling by over 4%, becoming the worst-performing sector among the 33 industry classification indices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Indian pharmaceutical stocks also slid.
