British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has proposed reinstating the threshold for issuing work visas to foreigners, requiring a university degree to be eligible for a skilled worker visa, while also raising the English language requirements for visa applicants. However, the government believes that industries such as information technology, construction, and engineering, where there is a shortage of workers, may have their standards lowered appropriately. The related policy white paper is scheduled to be released on the 12th. Starmer proposes that the threshold for issuing skilled worker visas to foreigners be restored to previous levels, requiring visa applicants to have a university degree. According to the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, this requirement was abolished during the tenure of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, replaced by a requirement of only a high school diploma but needing to meet certain points criteria.
