According to the data from the China Passenger Car Association, the retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles in April reached 905,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 33.9% but a month-on-month decrease of 8.7%; the cumulative retail sales from January to April were 3.324 million units, an increase of 35.7%. In April, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the overall domestic passenger car market reached 51.5%, an increase of 7 percentage points compared to the same period last year. In April, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in domestic retail sales for domestic brands was 72.8%, for luxury cars it was 23.5%, and for mainstream joint venture brands it was only 6.8%. In terms of monthly retail market share of new energy vehicles in April, the market share for domestic brands was 73%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year; the market share for mainstream joint venture brands was 3.4%, a decrease of 1.5 percentage points; the market share for new forces such as Xiaopeng Motors, Leapmotor, and Xiaomi Motors increased by 3.6 percentage points, reaching 19.4%; while Tesla's market share was 3.2%, a decrease of 1.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
