Zhao Haijun, CEO of SMIC: market fundamentals have not changed much compared to the first quarter, more wafer outsourcing demand is returning to the domestic market.
On the morning of May 9th, Zhao Haijun, co-CEO of SMIC International, said in a first-quarter earnings call that although many new factors have emerged in the market, the underlying fundamentals have not changed significantly compared to the first quarter. Customers are handling the situation calmly, and the company's production capacity utilization rate remains high. "We have already seen positive signals of bottoming out and rebound in various industries, including industrial and automotive sectors. The localization of the supply chain continues to strengthen, with more wafer foundry demand returning to the domestic market. At the same time, the market is also experiencing anxiety caused by changes in tariff policies. Going forward, it is worth closely monitoring changes in tariff policies, market stimuli, and whether the rush to build inventory is overextending future demand," Zhao Haijun said.
