The Ministry of Ecology and Environment held a meeting with relevant departments on the regulation of motor vehicle emissions.

On May 8th, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Commerce, and the State Administration for Market Regulation, held a meeting on the supervision of motor vehicle emissions. The meeting summarized the progress of the special rectification of third-party institutions in the field of motor vehicle emission inspection, and promoted the implementation of motor vehicle environmental supervision work. The meeting pointed out that during the special rectification period, various regions and departments have investigated and dealt with violations of falsification in accordance with the law, maintained a fair and orderly market environment, effectively assisted in reducing pollution emissions, and played an important role in improving air quality. The meeting required that all regions and departments focus on the improvement of the quality and efficiency of motor vehicle environmental supervision, focusing on the compliance of third-party institutions and heavy-duty trucks according to the opinions on further optimizing motor vehicle environmental supervision. The meeting emphasized the need to focus on the inspection and maintenance processes, consolidate the results of the special rectification, strictly implement daily supervision and access management, and strengthen the coordination between inspection and maintenance. It also called for deepening the governance of emissions from heavy-duty trucks, promoting the legal use of pollution control devices in accordance with the principles of tolerance and prudence, utilizing policies for updating old vehicles with new ones, and ensuring compliance with emission standards.
