Apple is asking the US Federal Appeals Court to temporarily stay key provisions in a judge's ruling that orders Apple to immediately open up its lucrative app store to more competitors. In a filing submitted on Wednesday to the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, Apple said that it would suffer irreparable harm if the April 30th order is not stayed pending resolution of the iPhone maker's legal challenge. Apple is fighting a ruling that found Apple in contempt of prior orders in a 2020 antitrust lawsuit brought by Epic Games, the maker of the online video game "Fortnite". In its filing, Apple stated that the new ruling prevents the company from "exercising control over core aspects of its business operations."
