Microsoft (MSFT.O) is set to release two low-end Surface tablets to ignite people's interest in devices that can utilize Microsoft's artificial intelligence tools and better compete with Apple's ultra-thin tablets. The 13-inch Surface Laptop and 12-inch Surface Pro 2-in-1 tablet will go on sale on Tuesday and begin shipping to consumers in the United States and select markets on May 20. The Surface Laptop weighs 2.7 pounds and is 0.61 inches thick with a touchscreen starting at $899. The Surface Pro weighs 1.5 pounds and is less than one-third of an inch thick, equipped with the series' typical kickstand and front and rear cameras starting at $799, with the stylus pen and snap-on keyboard sold separately.
