The head of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) market at Bank of America said that the recent surge in interest in the European market does not necessarily mean the beginning of a long-term, structural shift. The department saw a 23% increase in revenue in the first quarter, the best performance in the same period on record. However, Brian Weinstein believes that there is not enough evidence to support the idea that capital is shifting on a large scale and permanently from the United States to Europe. Weinstein stated that many institutional investors are taking a wait-and-see approach to the European market. "Are people making structural shifts? No. It's just a small-scale flow into Europe."
