Journalists learned today that the State Council Food Safety Office, in conjunction with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Health Commission, the General Administration of Customs, and the State Administration for Market Regulation, has issued the "Comprehensive Governance Plan for the Problem of Food Additive Abuse", deploying nationwide actions to address the issue of food additive abuse. The plan focuses on concerns of the public regarding the excessive and unauthorized use of food additives, requiring comprehensive strengthening of the inspection of edible agricultural products, food, and food additives at the source, as well as strengthening supervision over the production, sales, and use of food additives in the production and processing of food and catering services. The plan also aims to crack down on illegal acts of using chemical products as food additives and implements comprehensive governance of the problem of food additive abuse from the fields to the dining table.
