During the just-concluded May Day Golden Week, Hong Kong welcomed a total of 919,600 mainland tourists, an increase of 20% compared to the May Day Golden Week in 2024. Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, stated that the Hong Kong government will further optimize based on the pressure points of the visitor flow and the preferences of the new normal for tourists, hoping to bring more economic benefits through new tourism models. According to data from Hong Kong Immigration Department, a total of 1.0997 million tourists entered Hong Kong during the May Day Golden Week, an increase of 22% compared to the same period in 2024, with mainland tourists accounting for more than 80%.
