The Burmese military continues to extend the temporary ceasefire deadline.

On May 6th, the office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Defense Forces announced the extension of the temporary ceasefire deadline from May 6th to May 31st. The announcement stated that the Myanmar Defense Forces will continue to extend the temporary ceasefire deadline in order to fully promote disaster relief and reconstruction efforts, protect national interests, and help establish lasting, genuine peace and national stability.
