Major construction projects have started one after another in the first quarter, with a total project cost exceeding 1 billion yuan and 182 projects initiated.
The latest tax data from the State Taxation Administration shows that in the first quarter of 2025, the number of construction projects nationwide reporting work-related injury insurance through the project-based approach reached 39,000, an increase of 9.4% year-on-year; the total construction cost of these projects amounted to 19 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year. Key construction projects in China are progressing smoothly overall, with a good momentum in investment growth, especially accelerated construction of investment projects in March.
Tax data shows that in March, the number of construction projects reported was 18,000, accounting for 46.5% of the total for the quarter; the total reported construction cost was 0.8 trillion yuan, accounting for 43.9% of the total for the quarter. In the first quarter, there were a total of 182 major projects with a total construction cost exceeding 10 billion yuan, an increase of 41.8% year-on-year; the total construction cost of these major projects was approximately 340 billion yuan, an increase of 39.1% year-on-year.
