Our country's first maritime glacier aerial survey launched, Renlongba glacier becomes the first survey point.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Geological Survey Bureau conducted China's first marine glacier aerial survey in Chamdo, Tibet, in order to understand the development and melting changes of marine glaciers. The first survey point was selected at the Renlongba Glacier, one of the few modern mid-low latitude marine mountain glaciers on Earth. This survey, targeting the high altitude, low temperature, and large area characteristics of glacier regions, constructed an integrated sky-ground survey monitoring technology system. Through methods such as satellite remote sensing, helicopter aerial geophysics, and ground comprehensive survey, information such as the extent and thickness of the glacier was obtained to understand the status of China's glacier resources.
