On May 5, 2025, according to the Shanghai Tourism Big Data, during the May Day holiday, Shanghai received a total of 16.5 million tourists, an increase of 1.61% compared to the previous year. The total tourism transaction amount in Shanghai, including eating, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment, was 20.11 billion yuan, an increase of 10.20% compared to the previous year. The hotel occupancy rate in the city was 73%, an increase of 6.5 percentage points compared to the previous year. From May 2 to May 4, the daily occupancy rate exceeded 80% for three consecutive days, reaching a historical high. According to statistics from major travel booking platforms such as Ctrip, Qunar, and Tongcheng, the average hotel occupancy rate in Shanghai during the May Day holiday increased by over 20%, and sales revenue increased by over 15% for more than 5,000 accommodation units in the city.
