Meituan Travel: May Day county-level high-star hotel bookings increase by 80%

On May 5th, Meituan Travel released the 2025 "May Day" holiday consumption insights, showing that this year's "May Day" holiday saw a surge in cultural and tourism activities, with cultural and tourism orders increasing by 30% compared to the same period in 2023. The top 10 popular destinations were Nanjing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Beijing, Chongqing, Changsha, Luoyang, Wuhan, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Among them, the online transaction volume of dining-in orders contributed by out-of-town tourists increased by 189% compared to 2023. In contrast to the crowded popular cities, Zhejiang's Tonglu County, known for its "Poetic Jiangnan", Anhui's Huaining County, known as the "Sacred Land of Long Poems", Anhui's Fengtai County in northern Anhui, and Hunan's Xinhua County with its "Shangmei Ancient Town and Chiyu Ancient Village" have all become popular choices. This year's "May Day" holiday saw a more than 80% increase in the booking volume of high-star hotels in county towns.
