Trump plans to impose "movie tariffs" American experts: will deal a devastating blow to American movies
President Trump of the United States announced on the 4th that a 100% tariff will be imposed on all foreign-produced films. Currently, Hollywood has many big-budget films that have been completed shooting in various locations around the world and are awaiting release, including "Mission: Impossible 8", Disney and 20th Century Studios' "Avatar: Fire and Ash", and Lionsgate's spin-off of "John Wick". Marvel Studios' "Avengers 5: Day of Destruction" has also begun filming in London. Reinsh, a former senior official of the U.S. Department of Commerce and a senior researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said that if other countries/regions retaliate against Trump's film tariffs, it will have a devastating impact on the U.S. film industry. "We are losing much more than gaining," he said, although Trump mentioned "national security", it is difficult to justify this reason for the film industry.
