Turkey's consumer price index in April rose by 37.86% year-on-year, reaching a near 40-month low.

Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on May 5th showed that in April 2025, the country's consumer price index rose by 3% month-on-month and by 37.86% year-on-year, the lowest level in nearly 40 months. Classified data showed that the highest increase was in the education category, with an annual increase of 79.2%; followed by the housing category, with an increase of 74.07%; the smallest increase was in the clothing and footwear category, at only 16.92%. Since inflation soared in 2022 and hit a peak of over 85% in October of that year, the Central Bank of Turkey has been continuously implementing tightening measures such as interest rate hikes to address the issue. Since the second half of last year, the Turkish consumer price index has shown a monthly downward trend.
