The Romanian presidential election will enter the second round of voting with two candidates vying for the position.

On May 5th local time, the preliminary counting results of the first round of the presidential elections announced by the permanent election commission in Romania showed that no candidate received more than half of the votes, and a second round of voting will be held on May 18th. According to the statistical results of 99.89% of the votes, the chairman of the Romanian People's Union Party, George Simion, ranked first with 40.87% of the votes. Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan ranked second with 20.97% of the votes, surpassing the candidate of the Romania Forward Electoral Alliance, Claudiu Antonescu, to advance to the second round of the presidential election.
