The number of people allowed to climb Mount Everest from the southern slope this spring exceeds that of last year.
The Nepal Tourism Board stated on the 3rd that as of the 2nd, a total of 441 mountaineers have been granted permission to climb Mount Everest from the Nepali side during this spring climbing season, surpassing last year's number. In the spring climbing season last year, a total of 421 people were permitted to climb Everest from the south side. This number for the spring season in 2023 is 478 people, the highest in recent years. According to data from the Nepal Tourism Board, as of the 2nd, a total of 1092 mountaineers from 73 countries and regions have been granted permission to climb 26 peaks within Nepal during this spring climbing season. The Nepal spring climbing season runs from April to May.
