"May Day" holiday weather will undergo a big change: temperatures will drop, strong winds will appear, and a new round of rainfall will hit the south.
From May 3rd to 5th, strong cold air will affect the eastern and central regions of China. Western and northern areas, including the northwest and north China, will experience winds of force 4 to 6, with gusts of force 9 to 10 in some areas of western Inner Mongolia and the northwest region, and force 11 or higher in the mountainous areas of Xinjiang. Temperatures in these areas will drop by 4 to 8 degrees Celsius, locally up to 10 to 12 degrees Celsius. In the following days, temperatures in the eastern part of the northwest region, the Huang-Huai region, and the Jiangnan region will rapidly decrease, reaching the average levels for this time of year. As the cold air moves southward and warm, moist air flows increase, a new round of rainfall is expected in the southern regions from tomorrow to the 5th. Some areas in the eastern parts of the southwest region, the Jiangnan region, and south China may experience moderate to heavy rain, localized heavy rainstorms, and severe convective weather such as short-term heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
