Currently, China's pumped storage power station design, construction, equipment manufacturing, and operation management have reached the world's leading level, and will further optimize the construction pace of pumped storage to match the needs of new energy development through advanced planning. Data shows that by the end of 2024, the total installed capacity of pumped storage power stations in China will reach 58.69 million kilowatts; the total approved construction scale nationwide is approximately 200 million kilowatts. It is estimated that the newly added installed capacity of pumped storage in 2025 will be about 8 million kilowatts; by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the total installed capacity of pumped storage will reach around 66 million kilowatts.
