The Taiwan Stock Market opened high and rose on the 2nd, closing up 552.61 points, an increase of 2.73%, at 20787.64 points, reaching a high since April 2. The total turnover for the day was 3266.6 billion yuan, an increase of 15.8% compared to the previous trading day. At the close, there were 824 gainers, 24 stocks hit the limit up, 152 decliners, and no limit down stocks. Tech giant TSMC rose by 42 Taiwanese dollars to close at 950 Taiwanese dollars, while Hon Hai (Foxconn) rose by over 4%. MediaTek turned black and plummeted nearly 4% during trading. Due to a historic surge in the New Taiwan Dollar today, skyrocketing nearly 9 tenths at one point, with the largest single-day increase in over ten years, stimulating a significant rise in construction-related stocks on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The Gretai Securities Market Index, representing small and medium-sized stocks, closed at 223.89 points, hitting a high since April 7 with an increase of 1.78%.
