The latest data released by Meituan shows that on the first day of the holiday, popular dining establishments in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou had online queues of hundreds of tables and tea shops waiting to make over a dozen cups. By around 1 pm, on the platform, the online orders for dining in restaurants reached a daily peak, with a 73% year-on-year increase, with the highest demand for snacks, fast food, and drinks.
