South Korea's acting president Lee Zhouhao said he will ensure government stability before the general election.
South Korean acting President Lee Joo-ho said on Friday that he will ensure the stable operation of the government and a fair presidential election on June 3rd. This comes after the South Korean Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and Finance resigned. Education Minister Lee Joo-ho is the third acting president of South Korea, tasked with leading the country out of the political and economic turmoil caused by last year's martial law and U.S. tariffs. Lee Joo-ho promised to work closely with the cabinet and lawmakers from the opposition party to stabilize the government. "I believe that government management operates under a system. I will do my utmost to ensure the stable operation of the government," he told reporters. Former acting president and Prime Minister Han Deok-soo resigned on Thursday, and it is expected that he will announce his candidacy for president on Friday. According to the law, Minister of Planning and Finance Choi Sang-muk was supposed to serve as acting president before the election on June 3rd, but he suddenly resigned before midnight on Thursday.
