Trinidad and Tobago's new prime minister takes oath of office
On the afternoon of May 1st, local time, Kamla Persad-Bissessar was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago's new government for a term of five years. Kamla Persad-Bissessar was born in 1952 and has served as the Attorney General, Minister of Justice, and Minister of Education in Trinidad and Tobago. From 2010 to 2015, she also served as the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, becoming the first female Prime Minister in the country's history.
