Seven provinces and cities saw record high average temperatures in April, with a cold front expected to hit during the "May Day" holiday.
In April just past, the national average temperature was 12.95, the third warmest since complete observation records began in 1961. Among them, Jiangsu, Henan, Shaanxi, Shanghai, Hubei, Shandong, and Anhui provinces had the highest average temperatures in April, with Hunan, Zhejiang, and Hebei having the second highest. As May begins, warm weather continues in the eastern part of Northwestern China, the Huang-Huai region, Jiangnan, and South China, with temperatures in most areas expected to exceed 30. Tomorrow, parts of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, and Hubei may experience high temperatures, with little rainfall expected in the near future. Relative humidity in these areas is low, making it overall dry and hot. Cities like Chongqing, Xi'an, and Zhengzhou may experience high temperatures tomorrow, with Xi'an and Zhengzhou possibly reaching 37. However, cold air is not on vacation, and will continue to be active in the next 7 days. The temperatures in most parts of China will fluctuate frequently under the alternating influence of warm and cold air, with temperatures rising for a day or two then falling for a day or two, making it difficult to sustain a continuous increase or decrease.
