Morgan Stanley plans to offer cryptocurrency trading services to E*Trade customers.
Morgan Stanley plans to add cryptocurrency trading on its E*Trade platform, marking the most significant move by a major U.S. bank to help retail clients invest in such assets since the Trump administration began removing regulatory barriers. The plan is still in an early stage, according to sources familiar with the matter, with executives envisioning a launch of the service at some point next year. Morgan Stanley is considering collaborating with one or more established cryptocurrency companies to build a trading mechanism for its brokerage clients, enabling them to buy and sell popular cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum. A spokesperson for Morgan Stanley declined to comment.
