The UK regulatory authority is investigating the veterinary services industry and studying remedies to strengthen competition.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK has stated that it is conducting an investigation into domestic pet veterinary services in the UK and has listed potential remedies related to this. The CMA stated that it is seeking feedback from stakeholders on the potential impacts of the remedies it is considering, and added that the consultation will end on May 27th. The CMA stated that current analysis indicates that treatment prices have risen by over 60% between 2015 and 2023, while the overall inflation rate for the service sector during the same period was 35%, and despite receiving some explanations, this has raised concerns among consumers.
