Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary said in a letter on Thursday that if U.S. tariffs substantially impact the price of the planes the company has ordered from Boeing, Ryanair will look for other plane suppliers. He also added that they would consider Chinese aircraft manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC). By passenger volume, Ryanair is Europe's largest airline. O'Leary had previously stated that he would consider buying planes manufactured in China at the right price. U.S. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi warned Ryanair not to buy Chinese-made planes due to security concerns, prompting O'Leary to respond with this letter. In the letter, O'Leary stated that the Irish airline has not had any discussions with COMAC regarding plane purchases since around 2011, but if COMAC's planes were 10% to 20% cheaper than Boeing's main competitor Airbus, Ryanair would "certainly" consider buying them.
