The SpaceX rocket manufacturing and launch base located in the southern coastal area of the Gulf of Mexico in Texas is scheduled to vote on May 3rd to determine whether the area will be upgraded to a town called "Starship Base". According to the Associated Press, as many eligible voters are employees of SpaceX, the establishment of the "Starship Base" in the town seems to be a foregone conclusion. As of April 29th, nearly 200 of the 283 eligible voters have already cast their votes. The SpaceX rocket manufacturing and launch base is located in Boca Chica, southern Texas, covering an area of only 3.9 square kilometers, close to the US-Mexico border. CEO Elon Musk initially proposed the idea of establishing a town there in 2021. SpaceX has not commented on the upcoming vote, and the company's senior executives have not explained why they want to establish such a corporate town.
