Vasif Latif, President and Chief Investment Officer of Sarmaya Partners, commented on the first quarter GDP of the United States: "This is a surprising market downturn figure. It is somewhat in line with our expectations that we could potentially be entering a scenario similar to the 1970s, with sluggish economic growth and persistently high inflation. This also aligns with the rise in bond yields and the decline in stock returns. However, we do need to take a step back because there is some noise in this GDP report due to the activities of stockpiling inventories in advance, as well as the impact of gold shipments on international trade data in the GDP figures."
