German inflation falls to seven-month low, supporting further interest rate cuts by the European Central Bank.
Germany's inflation rate slowed to its lowest level in seven months, bringing some confidence to the European Central Bank as it considers whether to further cut interest rates amid uncertainty over US tariffs. Germany's statistics office said on Wednesday that consumer prices in April rose 2.2% compared to a year earlier, lower than March's 2.3%. The number was slightly higher than the median forecast of 2.1%.
