At the annual general meeting of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (hereinafter referred to as HKEX) held on the afternoon of April 30, shareholders questioned whether PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), also known as PwC, has the ability and qualifications to continue as the external auditor of HKEX. The shareholder expressed concerns that, following the Evergrande incident, PwC has been dismissed by several companies and there have been rumors of significant staff turnover, which could affect the quality of PwC's auditing work. In response, HKEX stated that every appointment of an auditor goes through a detailed process and there will be no changes until 2025. However, HKEX will discuss the possibility of a change in 2026 in the coming months. The Securities Times reporter noted that, although the resolution to appoint PwC as the external auditor was ultimately approved in the vote, the approval rate was only 86.52%, while other resolutions had approval rates of over 90%.
