Railways welcome the peak travel period before the festival. Today, it is estimated that the national railway will send 18.7 million passengers.
Journalists learned from China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. that on April 30, the day before the May Day holiday, the railway experienced a peak in passenger travel, with an estimated 18.7 million passengers expected to travel nationwide by train and 1,166 additional passenger trains planned. On April 29, the national railway transported 13.084 million passengers, with transportation running smoothly and orderly. As of 2 p.m. on April 30, a total of 94.55 million tickets for the May Day holiday have been sold through the railway's 12306 platform.
From the pre-sale of tickets, the popular departure cities today include Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, and Changsha; and the popular arrival cities include Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Nanjing, and Changsha. Popular routes for passenger flow include Beijing to Shanghai, Xi'an to Chengdu, Beijing to Hohhot, Guangzhou to Nanning, Beijing to Shenyang, Beijing to Taiyuan, and Shanghai to Wuhan.
