Foreign direct investment in Indonesia in the first quarter increased by 12.7% compared to the same period last year.
Indonesian Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, recently stated that in the first quarter of this year, Indonesia's foreign direct investment reached 230.4 trillion Indonesian Rupiah, an increase of 12.7% compared to the same period last year. Luhut said that domestic investment in Indonesia reached 234.8 trillion Indonesian Rupiah in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 19.1% compared to the same period last year. The total investment, including domestic and foreign investment, reached 465.2 trillion Indonesian Rupiah, an increase of 15.9% compared to the same period last year. Luhut noted that the rapid growth of domestic investment is mainly due to the advancement of infrastructure construction projects. In terms of foreign direct investment, Singapore remains the largest source of investment for Indonesia in the first quarter of this year.
