Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said on Tuesday that up to 30% of the code in the company's code repository is currently generated by artificial intelligence. "By my estimation, approximately 20% to 30% of the project code in our code repository is likely to be entirely written by software automatically," Nadella revealed in a public conversation with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The two tech titans had this exchange at the inaugural LlamaCon AI Developer Conference hosted by Meta in Menlo Park, California. Nadella further explained that the proportion of Microsoft's code generated by AI is continuing to rise. When Nadella asked Zuckerberg about related data, the Meta CEO said that while he couldn't give exact numbers off the top of his head, the company is developing an AI system that can autonomously construct the next generation of Llama series AI models. "We predict that within the next year... perhaps half of development work will be done by AI instead of humans, and this ratio will continue to expand in the future," Zuckerberg outlined.
