The Taiwan Affairs Office responds to the Democratic Progressive Party authorities' professional restrictions on mainland students.
On the morning of April 30th, the Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. Reporter: Recently, the Taiwan education department stated that they have requested relevant departments to assess and inventory the schools and departments related to "national security, classified, and core key technology projects," to be included in the mainland student enrollment control for the 2025 academic year after consolidation, in order to facilitate subsequent control and effectively ensure Taiwan's security. What is your comment on this? Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhu Fenglian: This is another evidence of the Democratic Progressive Party authorities artificially limiting cross-strait exchanges and mainland students studying in Taiwan. The DPP authorities have repeatedly interfered in cross-strait educational exchanges, earlier prohibiting exchanges and cooperation with 10 universities in mainland China, and now they want to make changes in recruiting mainland students, once again exposing their malicious intentions to "oppose China at every turn," obstruct cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, and damage cross-strait relations. The mainland's ability to create a globally recognized development miracle cannot be separated from the significant progress in education and technology. We uphold the concept of "Both sides of the strait are one family," and the doors of many universities are open to ambitious Taiwanese students. We welcome young people in Taiwan to apply to mainland universities, and we will create better conditions for them to grow and succeed in the mainland. We hope that young people on both sides of the strait will have lofty aspirations and work together to contribute their youthful energy to achieve their life goals and contribute to the rejuvenation of the nation.
