The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference today. When asked by reporters about Lai Ching-te's recent advocacy of the "two-state theory" at an event, spokesperson Zhu Fenglian stated that Lai Ching-te's repeated promotion of the "two-state theory" is a blatant attempt to provoke separatism, once again exposing his true identity as a "destroyer of cross-strait peace" and "instigator of the Taiwan Strait crisis." Zhu Fenglian pointed out that it has been emphasized multiple times that as long as the "1992 Consensus" is upheld and both sides of the Taiwan Strait acknowledge that they belong to one China, dialogue and negotiations can be carried out between the two sides. Denying the "1992 Consensus," deviating from the one China principle, and attempting separatism makes it impossible to have dialogue and negotiation between both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The so-called "equal dignity" advocated by the DPP authorities is an attempt to change the historical and legal fact that both sides belong to one China, and their conspiracy to achieve cross-strait dialogue and exchanges based on the "two-state theory" will never succeed.
