On April 29th, the Wuhan Statistical Bureau and the Wuhan Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics jointly released the economic performance of Wuhan in the first quarter of 2025 - the city's gross domestic product was 4759.41 billion yuan, calculated at constant prices, with a year-on-year growth of 5.4%. According to the latest publicly available data from various regions, as of the time of writing, the top ten cities with the highest GDP in the first quarter of 2025 in China have successively released their economic performance reports in the past week, with Wuhan ranking ninth in the country. Among them, Shanghai ranked first with a GDP of 12,735.06 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2025, followed by Beijing with 12,159.9 billion yuan, Shenzhen with 8,950.49 billion yuan, Chongqing with 7,574.79 billion yuan, Guangzhou with 7,532.51 billion yuan, Suzhou with 6,095.68 billion yuan, Chengdu with 5,930.3 billion yuan, Hangzhou with 5,715 billion yuan, Wuhan with 4,759.41 billion yuan, and Nanjing with 4,718.7 billion yuan. In terms of growth rate, the GDP growth rate of four cities in the first quarter of 2025 exceeded the national average growth rate. Among them, Chengdu and Suzhou led with a growth rate of 6.0%, followed by Beijing at 5.5%, Wuhan at 5.4%, Nanjing at 5.3%, Shenzhen at 5.2%, Hangzhou at 5.2%, Shanghai at 5.1%, Chongqing at 4.3%, and Guangzhou at 3.0%.
